Eligibility for financing through WeMB, applicants must be:
- A legal entity; and
- A self-identifying woman (cis, trans, 2S, or gender-diverse) or be an operation owned and controlled by the same; and
- A Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, or a legal entity owned and controlled by a Canadian citizen or citizens or a landed immigrant or immigrants; and
- Operating or about to operate in Manitoba
Applications from “Out of Province” ownership for businesses operating or about to operate in Manitoba, will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with all regular loan policy criteria to apply.
“Woman-owned" includes all self-identifyng women (cis, trans, 2S, and gender-diverse)” and is defined as owning 51% or more of legal voting shares. This can be done by providing a copy of the articles of incorporation and any other agreement as part of the application process. A business that is 50% or more owned by a self-identifyng woman (cis, trans, 2S, and gender-diverse) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
