Until 2020, there was limited research available on the status of women’s entrepreneurship in Canada, with almost no information regarding Manitoba. In that year, the Women’s Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) published the first Canadian report, offering valuable insights into women’s entrepreneurship in Canada. The report highlighted the unique challenges faced by Canadian women entrepreneurs and pointed out that a 10% increase in women-led small and medium-sized businesses could lead to a $1.8 billion annual boost in Canada’s GDP. Since then, updated reports have been published annually.

This year, the Manitoba Women’s Enterprise Centre Inc. collaborated with WEKH and the Diversity Institute at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University, to create a report specifically focused on women’s entrepreneurship in Manitoba. We are excited to have shared these findings at a breakfast event hosted by the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship and WEKH Manitoba on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. We would like to express our gratitude to the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce for providing the funding that made this report possible.
